The Peugeot 207’s arrival in 2007 proved that bigger is usually considered better as new models replace old. The 207 is close to the size of Peugeot’s iconic small car, the mid-1990s 306, and is part of a range that is plentiful, diverse and, at times, confusing. From base three-door hatch, the range extends to the 50-grand CC convertible. The entry XR hatch sets the standard though. Surprisingly spacious and decidedly driver-friendly, the 207 is Euro charm personified. A 55kW/120Nm 1.4-litre hooks up to five-speed manual transmission and standard gear includes dual airbags, ABS, air-conditioning, trip computer and six-speaker CD audio.
