Volvo joined the coupe-convertible set with the four-seat C70 in late 2006, bringing not just added versatility, but also newfound on-road dynamics. Based on the S40 platform, the C70 is nicely balanced on the road and actually bigger inside, except for rear headroom and front shoulder room. Engines are normally aspirated or turbo five-cylinders. The LE’s 2.4-litre engine produces 125kW and 230Nm, driving manual or auto five-speed transmissions. Both C70s come with stability control, six airbags (including, unusually in a convertible, curtain airbags), parking sensors, power front seats, cruise control, leather trim, alloy wheels and eight-speaker audio.
