Volvo’s C30 came to Australia with the promise of being something almost radical from the Swedish car-maker. S40-based, but shorter and lighter, the three-door C30 introduced rear-end styling aspects that had so far only appeared on show prototypes. The very driveable C30 is an appealing, attractive personal coupe that benefits from the refined platform it’s based on. Engines are all five-cylinder, with the turbo T5 producing 169kW and 320Nm, and driving through six-speed manual or five-speed auto transmission. T5 adds stability control, 17-inch alloys, bi-Xenon headlights, heated front seats and six-CD stacker to LE equipment.
