Aiming at the high end of the SUV market, Volvo introduced the big XC90 wagon in July 2003. Squarely aimed at providing a high-riding on-road experience rather than the ability to slug it out off-road, the XC90 provides the space, design and safety expected of the brand. Three engines cover all the bases and the only transmission is a Geartronic six-speed auto. The 136kW/400Nm 2.4-litre five-cylinder D5 turbodiesel comes with stability and traction control, six airbags, rear parking sensors, 17-inch alloys, trip computer, leather trim, power driver’s seat, cruise control, automatic climate control and eight-speaker CD audio.
